Classic Fleur du Lac Images
The book will feature more than 250 classic images and graphics in full color and black and white. Here are a few examples of the types of images that will be displayed.

This is a vintage photograph of the Harbor House at Fleur du Lac. On the basis of the Lake level and the fact that the wrought iron gates had not yet been installed on the boat garages, the date of this image is summer 1935. The photograph was most likely taken by Henry Kaiser with a large format camera.

One of the most beautiful images of Henry Kaiser's famous race boat Hornet II. This photograph was taken in 1948 when Henry had shipped his race boat to Washington D. C. to participate in the President's Cup Races. He renamed Hornet II, Fleur du Lac for the occasion. Henry Kaiser is driving the boat with famous bandleader Guy Lombardo seated to Henry's right. Lombardo was scheduled to drive Fleur du Lac in the Cup Races. Edgar Kaiser is seated in the back seat.

The furnishings inside the main residences on the Kaiser Estate were exquisite. This is the bedroom of "Glocca Mora", the house Henry and second wife Ale chose to occupy after the death of Henry's first wife, Bess. You may recognize this room as the location for the failed assassination attempt on Michael Corleone in Godfather II.

This is a beautiful image of the exterior of "Glocca Mora" cottage at Fleur du Lac, taken just after the completion of a remodeling project in 1946. The Kaisers took the name for the cottage from the popular song "How are things in Glocca Morra?", introduced in the 1947 Broadway production of Finian's Rainbow.

In what some readers may consider to be among the most interesting aspects of the book, we were able to acquire an entire original official program from the VIII Winter Olympic Games held in 1960 in Squaw Valley California. Readers can access the website accompanying the book to view each of the more than 100 pages of the Program that are chock-full of interesting Olympics detail, and even see examples of vintage 1960's advertisements in this delightful time-capsule.
